Yesterday was a difficult day. After much thought and deliberation over these past few months we decided it was time to put down our beloved dog Sasha. She has been with us since she was a pup 14 years ago, our first child. Sasha was a wonderful, easy going, kid friendly dog and we all loved her. She was perfect. Unfortunately we discovered last summer she was very sick and we did what we could for her this past year. However, these past few months she has really aged and her body was failing her. It was a difficult decision as for the most part her mind was there. We never in our wildest dreams thought we would ever have to make such a decision but after taking he camping with us this past week we were convinced. We all said our goodbyes and of course she has been scrapbooked and videod many times in the past 14 years so we will always have our Sasha with us. This is the last photo we have of Sasha.
Oh, my heart is aching right now as I know the feeling, the pain you're going through. We had a dog for 14 years. They become such a BIG part of our family, that's it heart-wrencing when we have to let them go. I'll be thinking of you.Your Sasha is a beautiful dog!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Laurel. It is very difficult to lose a beloved furry family member and friend. Don't try to forget Sasha, remember all the lovely years you had together. Please take care.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful baby! I'm so sorry for your loss. I have two myself, one aging. I see him change every day and I dread the time I have to say goodbye. My heart goes out to you and your family. She looks so happy in this photo. You can tell she knew she was so loved!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for you and your family. Putting down a longtime pet is SO hard. It's been four years since we lost our 16-year-old Springer Spaniel, and it's still hard . . .
ReplyDeleteLaurel she is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe lost our dog of 10 years to cancer last year. It is a heartwrenching decision that anyone has to make.
We now have a little family of three spaniels... Holly, who we went to look at (and were most definatly NOT buying! lol) then we adopted Scooby, from rescue the following January, and now have Truly, again from rescue, who has been with us for 3 months.. photos on my blog if you'd like to see.
Just wanted to show my support..
love n hugs.

I'm sorry for the loss of your beloved dog Sasha. They are just like a member of the family. I've had to put 2 down. Yorkie & Cocker it was hard.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Sasha. I know the heartache as when I was a kid we lost a puppy. My heart goes out to you and your family. What a great pic of her and your girls!
ReplyDeleteOh that is so sad Laurel. It's nice that you had an animal around that long. I have never had one for more then 4 years but even after having my cat I have now for 2 years, I don't even want to think about him being gone. I just love him to bits. So sorry for you. Take care!
ReplyDeleteHi Laurel! I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear your beloved "furbaby" has passed on. I lost my 2 furbabies last year within months of each other (they were my babies before kids), so I know how hard it is and how difficult a decision you had to make. Time does heal, but your memories and love will last forever. Take Care to you all--

ReplyDeleteOh Laurel, I feel for you. Saying goodbye is the hardest thing but never forget that you did what was right for your beloved Sasha. They give so much more to us than they take - those paw prints will remain forever on your heart.
ReplyDeletehugs to you
