You Can Do It & a Toot

ETA I can't believe it, I was featured on Card of the Week for this card already! It has only been posted for a couple of hours! It is in the Best of the Blogosphere section.

The sketch this week from Inspirational Card Sketches: For my card I incorporated the 365 Card Challenge - use the sentiment 'you can do it'. I love this paper that I got in my Lil' Scrappers kit, it was so easy to work with. In facr all of the supplies on this card were from the kit.

Grade 1 Happy Birthday

I have been keeping this secret for awhile and it has been very hard for me! I was asked to be a Guest Designer on 365 Cards! I was very excited when Pam emailed me and asked if I would be interested, such an honor. If you have not visited 365 Cards yet, you should, they have some great challenges and they have a new one every day!

For my card I was asked to do a 'Peek-a-boo to You' card - kind of like a surprise window. I was a little stumped at first then I found this on SCS. It was so easy to do.

I am of course using it for one of the students in my class next year.

Sonoma Thanks

The Card Positioning Systems Sketch for this week: Still on my Scenic Route Sonoma kick! The word is cut with my Slice.

A layout and a card using Sonoma

A sketch from Pencil Lines: For my layout, I printed the lyrics of I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack on a transparency and have it semi hidden behind the title and picture. I love this song and I do hope that my girls 'dance'. The bird rub ons are also my incorporation for the Scrapping Out Loud challenge to incorporate newsprint. I love the vintage feel of these birds!
Stamp: CTMH Pompoms: Scrapbooking Fanatics Rubons: Glitz Chipboard Letters: CTMH Mini Letters: Making Memories
Since I had the scraps out and they went perfect for Dawn's Color Challenge I decided to do a card too.

I used the Bonus sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You and my new slice cartridge (Basics 3).

For my card I cut out and layered the flowers. I then used some liquid glass and glass beads in the center.

Another Tilda

The sketch this week from 365 Cards For some reason, I kept seeing a hill so I had to use one of my Tildas and new watering can. This is also good, as I have almost used up my MM paper and CTMH flowers. I am determined to use lots of my stash before the new stuff comes out!

Hope to Post soon!

Getting back from camping I was so eager to get into the scraproom. However, many catch up chores had to be done, so I have been busy. I have done a couple things for the Design Teams but they just can't be posted yet. I am in an all day webcast course today - it is supposed to be about 40 degrees here, I'd much rather be downstairs in my craftroom! Hopefully tonight I'll create something and post it!

We're Back

It was a great camping week. We picked a good week to spend at the river as the weather was hot, hot, hot! However, we are still very hot here, 38 degrees! Too hot for me, I'm going to be hiding in my scraproom until the temp cools down a bit. Here are a few pics from the week:

Embrace Happiness

The sketch this week from Card Patterns Another week of Odd Bird Planet! We have been fortunate to be able to play with the Fairytale kit. I had fun using the Pattern paper (from an old sewing pattern) to make this flower - if only I had some Glimmer Mist!

Going camping today

Well we are heading out camping for a few days. Although I will miss my craft room, it is nice and cool in there so it is a great escape on hot days, I am looking forward to a few days away. Not looking forward to the bathing suit!

I do have some posts scheduled this week. If you are really bored, I started a new blog called On the Right Track (in my sidebar under my other stuff). It is my quest to lose 30 pounds and get fit. I'd love some comments on there, and really love some others who want to come on this 'Road Trip' with me... that's a hint to my next mini album... I ordered the supplies, they just came yesterday so I started it, but won't be finished for a couple of weeks now.

side by side

The Card Positioning Systems sketch for this week. For my card I incorporated the 365 Card Challenge for today - Twilight Inspired. You can't see in the picture but I used glitter on the flowers, very slight.

Another Cone!

So I have the 'bug' for this ice cream cone. I love it! So this is another entry for the Bitten By the Bug challenge. I had to make another one with Bittersweet. After making the first card, I just kept picturing it made with Bittersweet and it seemed so yummy! Before giving this card to anyone I will scent it with some Card Scents!

Enjoy Life's Moments

This is a week of firsts for me! I have wanted to make a shaped card for awhile now and just hadn't done it. Well, this card fits so many challenges, I just had to try it! First of all it is for the Pile it on Challenge to use mostly orange. The Bitten By the Bug challenge was to use the Ice Cream from the Indie Art cartridge. And finally, Hero Arts has a challenge this week to make a monochromatic card. Wow, three challenges!

Here is another view of the card, the lighting is better:

What?

I have wanted to do a mini album for a long time, but for some reason was intimidated by them. Well first Kristine of Creative Scrappers started a new blog called Creative Mini Albums. Then I thought I'd play a bit and use one of the board books (I have lots - I got them all for about $3!) I bought a few years ago, because I wanted to alter them somehow. My first attempt at a mini album was my 'green' one for the Moxie Fab Challenge. Well I must say I caught the mini album bug. I have an idea for one just brewing in my mind -more on that later, I had to order some supplies for it. So while waiting for the supplies I decided to use some of my Project 365 pictures I have taken, as well as a chipboard album I got in a kit. So here is my album. I have to say I LOVE it! This is so me in every way. The colors, the style, just everything. I do a lot of different things in my paper crafting, but this is just me. I used a variety of supplies, too many to list. Most of the Pattern Paper is from American Crafts. The cardstock and ribbon is CTMH. The buttons are PTI, and many other goodies.

The ticket tags hanging on the ring have journalling lines stamped on them and I asked the question: What is my story? What makes my house my home?
Page 1 & 2 I love to sit in my chair with my big mug (I like big heavy mugs, not dainty tea ones!) look at scrapping magazines and enjoy my tea. Although truth be told, since I started blogging I have sat there less and less!
Page 3 & 4 The Decor around the house. I am a clean lined, minimal type of person (less dusting!) so not a lot of elements. These are a few of my favorite. I love the saying on the wall in my living room, my large vase of branches and my large poster size canvas of a picture I took of Jaimee in Japan.

Page 5 & 6 My Happy Places. Of course these are my scraproom and my computer! Notice what is on the computer in the pic... my blog of course!

Page 7 & 8 Our Deck. We just got it redone last year with the glass railing. Jason also painted the house, and we bought our new deck furniture all last year. This year I planted the 4 trees at the end of the deck for privacy. The Barbeque is new this year. Now it is not really about me, but Jason has been making some pretty awesome meals on it!

Finally page 9 & 10 My flower gardens. When I lived in Castlegar (worked minimally, as I was a stay at home mom), I had lots of flower gardens with lots of flowers blooming throughout the year. It was so pretty, I love flowers. But somehow the more I work, the less 'busy' looking I want my garden. So I have converted the gardens at this house to be less work and full of shade plants, with mostly green and white (LOVE this). I love my hostas, ferns, lilacs, and hydrangeas (there is a story about my hydrangeas on my 365 blog). Looking at these pics just make me happy!

Thanks for looking!

Wow, another toot!

Must say I am pretty pumped, I have been getting a lot of toots lately, makes a person feel good! I did this card for the Bo Bunny sketch challenge. I didn't win, but I was chosen as one of the 'runners up'! Wow, you can see it here on the Bo Bunny blog!

Design Team Call

There is a new Scrappping site called Practical Scrappers and they are having a Design Team call.

Every serious scrapper has a massive stash of supplies. This blog will focus on encouraging you to use those supplies and tools in new creative ways. Each week there will be a new focus and our design team will be show off how they used it.

Design team requirements:
1) Willingness to have work prepared at least every other week-more if you can.
2) Willingness to try out new supplies (not major purchases-things like lace cardstock, color core cardstock, etc.)--I won't ever make you purchase something because part of the purpose of this is to show people how to use things they already have. Having said that, one week may focus on something that you would like to purchase anyway this will give you the opportunity to keep up with trends.

How to Apply:
Become a follower of this site
Leave a comment with a link to your blog or your gallery
Send me an e-mail at practicalscrappers@gmail.com that includes your name, where you live, and pictures of at least 3 layouts showcasing the following products. If you'd like to send more feel free.
Eyelets
PunchesDie
Cut Machine
Lace
Cardstock
Ribbon
Glitter
Stamps
Chipboard
Transparency
Stickers
Brads

Deadline to apply is July 26th. Choices will be announced on Wednesday July 28th.

Track 2008

This is my fourth post today, I'm having a great day, my mojo has returned and it feels good! Scroll down to see what I have done.

Here is a sketch from Jana: It was perfect for my pics of Danica's track pics. All supplies are from CTMH except the buttons (PTI) and Journalling Spot (LYB). I so love this Game On paper. You would think that since pink is my favorite color and I have girls I would go through a lot of a different paper, but I have ordered 2 packages of this paper and will now need a third for a soccer layout!
I noticed that the first photo looks like it has glitter all over it. It doesn't, must be a glare from the flash.

Green is the new black

The Unscripted Sketches sketch this week: I just had to do another card for the Moxie Fab Challenge because these ideas just keep popping into my head.

A toot!

I just saw on the 2Peas website that this layout was voted in the top 10! Woo hoo!

Happiness depends...

The sketch this week from Card Patterns: We were again sponsored by Odd Bird Planet and again used the Fairytale Kit. Check out the Odd Bird site for some awesome goodies! And check out Card Patterns to see what the rest of the Design team did!

I stamped on the wooden goose with a background stamp using Stazon ink. The quote and main image has been sponged with Desert Sand ink.

Save those clothing tags!

I have a bit of a collection of clothing tags that I have hoarded for the perfect project. The Moxie Fab Green Challenge was a great inspiration! Here are the tags before: A few paper scraps and some rubons and voila, my own chipboard embellishments!
But wait, it gets better! My favorite is the top right corner one with a picture that I took of my girls. I laminated it with my Xyron and made it into a key chain! Love it!

Think Green

I played around with some more scraps and my new Slice Cartridge (Spring). Other than the Slice, all supplies are from Close to My Heart. The journal tag is on foam strips. Cardstock: Desert Sand, White, Clover Meadow
Stamps: Dream Wishes
Ink: Desert Sand

I've gone green crazy!

So I saw all of my favorite green pattern papers all over my craft room and I just love to look at them. Then I was thinking I should do something with my many board books I picked up for 10 cents each. One thing just led to another and 2 hours later I have this project! (Don't worry, no whole papers or ribbon rolls were harmed in this project, only scraps used! LOL)

It is really green in that I covered it all in newspaper first and then just played!

I LOVE these papers!

I have to include these little guys!

I think I am Moxie Fabbed out! Whew!
