My friend has a gingerbread house making party every year for the kids. Her hubby puts together a bunch of graham wafer houses and then they supply a ton of candy, icing you name it... the kids have a blast. Then afterwards when we go to pick up the kids, the adults are invited to stay for some appys. I usually bring a small hostess/thank you gift. Well this year I decided to do a little bit more and it all started with an ugly green crate I picked up at our free store....
First, I painted over the green with a burgundy. I then cut out some letters with my Cricut to use as a stencil and I stencilled on the letters (why 'candy canes' you ask.... no reason... just wanted it to seem like an old crate that candy canes were packaged in at the North Pole...hehehe). Then I distressed it a bit, you can see some of the green poking through. Inside the package is some Homemade Hazelnut Hot Chocolate mix, some mini marshmallows, a jar of candy canes, some homemade dipped pretzel rods, some gourmet milk chocolate squares and some wrapped cinnamon sticks. Of course I have some little PTI tags... I love the look of them as a nice little addition. I have to admit... I LOVE the look of this and kind of want to keep it for myself!
