Summer Splashing with Echo Park

Today is another Echo Park Day, see the card I made for the Amber Ink Blog Hop using Little Boy paper below.  I am still in a bit of a card making funk, not a lot of mojo happening, but I am having so much fun with the scrapping that I am not complaining.  I am working like mad to clear out my scraproom (like that will ever happen) to make room for more goodies (have you seen the new stuff... so many things on my MUST have list - especially the Echo Park Happy Days and Apothecary papers, wow!)

Anyhow, although we are really not having our normal summer weather (and honestly I am ok with that, I am not a hot weather person, could do without all the rain though), it feels so good to scrap things that have happened this year, yes I am pretty much all caught up on my scrapping!

I used this sketch from Scrapbook Challenges:

It worked great for these photos I have of Danica playing in the sun with her friend.  I used the Echo Park Summer Days collection. Don't know if you can see or not, but I tucked a couple of the journal cards in behind the photos.  I love journal cards for that, just a bit of extra layering that is easy to do.  The banner is a sticker but I love to sew on things so I sewed around the edges of it.  I have also mixed in some of the Summer Days chipboard elements.

I saw this sketch on Liz Qualman's blog and really liked it so I had to play with it too.

The sketch was perfect for this photo of Danica eating an ice cream.  She is quite the teenager lately, won't let me take her picture and if she does, she doesn't really smile grrr... so I took this without her knowing!

More Summer Days papers, stickers and chipboard on this layout.  I love the chipboard ice cream cone I have at the top and the small 'hot' circle I have included as part of my journaling.  Now I used my chipboard sun on this layout awhile ago, so I improvised and used the negative shape to trace a sun on the back of the yellow polka dot paper, then cut it out by hand.  The journaling spots on this layout are from the Dots & Stripes Candy Shoppe paper pack.

When I saw this color combo at Color Combos Galore, I immediately thought of the Echo Park Splash Papers.

Now I have used the Echo Park Splash papers a few times, here and here so I am really digging into my stash today and making good use of the scraps that I love in this pack.  The orange 'background' paper peeking out from behind the main panel are actually cut from the striped paper in the pack and tucked in to look like a full sheet of paper.  To make the sun I cut a circle from the polka dot paper and the rays are cut from one of the strips in the striped paper.  I always add sewing to my projects so here I have also sewn between the color waves on the wavy background paper.  Don't you love the little whale in behind us, he is just so cute!

Now I am just hoping for a few sunny days in a row here so that I can work in my garden.  We had to put up a fence due to some 'neighbor problems', now I need to fix up the garden.
