Beware this is a photo heavy post.
It all started out with the purchase of this cute little mug from the Thrift Store last fall. I have had an idea in my head since then but just waiting for the right time to carry it out.
On the weekend I picked up this tray at a garage sale and it was ok, but I knew what I was going to do.
First I spray painted it red then I covered it with some Echo Park Country Drive Paper, aren't the colors and feel perfect for the mug? That is what I love about Echo Park, I have loved their fun bright patterns from their first collection and I think I have purchased every pack since. The best part is that they cover so many differnt styles so effortlessly. From fun and cute in such things as Little Girl or Little Boy, to just plain fun and cheery in Summer Days, or classic and chic like Be Mine or if you are a vintage person you will like the For the Record collection. Now here we have Country Drive another vintage feeling collection that I had a blast playing with!
For the tray I went for a homespun country quilt feel and of course I did my sewing before adhering the paper to the tray. The squares are cut out and some are cut in half for some extra pizzaz. I had to add a bit of blue scallop border just because the cup has some blue in it. I wanted to go all crazy with buttons and embellishments but remembered this is a tray, and things have to sit on it so not practical to have it bulky, hehehe! This project (tray and what is coming up) is for the Shabby Tea Room challenge - at least 3 different pattern papers, I have used 4.
I made a 'Get Well Soon' basket to give to someone when they are feeling run down with a cold and flu. Inside I have some soup, crackers, tea, biscuits, homemade banana coffee cake, a magazine and a napkin all packaged up with the tray. I have used my Cricut along the way for such things as the tags (Tags, Bags, Boxes and More or the Plantin Schoolbook one), sentiments (From My Kitchen and Country Life). I have also incorporated some Unity and Papertrey Stamps, SRM Stickers, scraps of burlap and fabric and of course some twine from the Twinery but taking center stage is the Echo Park Country Drive papers.
This sentiment was cut using the Country Life cricut cartridge. I have wrapped up a couple of chicken noodle soup mixes and put them in the mug. Note the scrap of Country Drive paper, love using scraps!
Here are my main food items all wrapped up and done up with some of the Country Drive papers. The tea holder is actually an upcycled iPod touch case! I stamped the teapot on some fabric and adhered it with Glue Dots. Of course this project fits the Scrapbooker's Paradise challenge - twine, tag and buttons.
Now I purchased a bunch of these plain white napkins many years ago for next to nothing knowing I would use them one day. I made some gingerbread napkins at Christmas time last year and now I have used another one. I cut the sentiment out with my Cricut using the From My Kitchen cartridge, traced it onto the napkin and then painted it in with acrylic paint. So easy. I then tied a spoon up in the napkin.
Finally, here is the whole basket together. Wouldn't you love to receive something like this if you weren't feeling well? I know I would.
Now for the card I used this weeks Card Patterns sketch:
Here is the card with more of the Country Drive papers and a sticker from the pack that I felt fit the theme of this pack quite well.
The inside of the card:
What do you think? Doesn't the Country Drive paper work well for this theme basket? And to think it all started out with the purchase of this:
Just to show the versatility of the paper, here is a layout using the same paper. The ladybugs, flowers and sweet memories pennant are all stickers from the collection, how easy is that? The caterpillar, leaves and grass are cut from the Walk in My Garden Cricut cartridge and the clouds are from Going Places
I LOVE Echo Park and can not wait to get my hands on the Happy Days collection, it is just so fun!
