Mindful Monday - Mom..... with Felicity Jane

Welcome to the second Mindful Monday challenge.  What is Mindful Monday?  well... it is explained here, but in a nutshell, documenting simple things that just make us happy.  I think it is important to take the time to be mindful and just appreciate what we have, and the simple and amazing things that surround us in our daily lives.

With Mother's Day coming up... I decided to use the prompt of 'mom' this week...

What does that mean to you?  your mom, you as a mom, what is a special memory you have of your mom?  what is a special treasure you have that reminds you of your mom?

For me... I had to document how mom and I played a lot of games over the years... mostly Yahtzee and card games.  We spent many nights for as long as I can remember playing some sort of game.  She was patient as I learned to shuffle, patient as I learned to add in yahtzee.... and lots of chit chat happened during those times.

Since my own family moved back to our hometown, mom and I don't play as often.... thinking we need to... BUT... my kids have certainly filled those moments.  They are young adults now and they enjoy spending time with their grandma, playing cards and games.....my youngest daughter still will say, "I'm going to grandmas" even on a Friday or Saturday night...I love that!

I used the Henley Collection by Felicity Jane.... just discovered this company and I am in love!

I would love to see what this prompt inspires you to create... be sure to link up below and share the badge in your post :)

Scrappy Sunday - Happy Camper with Simple Stories

Dreary weather here again.... which makes photographing layouts such a problem for me.... one of these days I will master it but for now... I won't tell you that it took wayyyyy longer to photograph this than it did to create it 😕 - even with some fussy cutting!

I used the Cabin Fever collection by Simple Stories to scrap these photos of my grand daughter.  This was her when we were camping last summer.... perfect camping pics don't you think?
I have also added some SRM Stickers.

I don't think she could have been any dirtier.....and she was definitely a happy camper 😉

Paper Issues has a few challenges going on this weekend....

I am playing along with this one:

Here is the sketch I was working with:

Now how do you photograph your layouts?  I would love to see pics!

Sketchy Saturday with Pattern Happy

Yep, Saturday means another sketch.  Since it is my day up on the Pattern Happy blog,  I have used my Pattern Happy goodies.

Still working on building my kids birthday cards for the students in my class.  I also seem to be on a shaker card kick.... most likely due to the abundant amount of sequins and goodies staring at me everyday! LOL

Anyways, I have combined a few of the Pattern Happy paper packs and used the Bday Bash stamp set.  What little girl wouldn't love to get a birthday card like this, pink, purple and some sparkles?!

For more information, please see the Pattern Happy blog

Now here is the sketch:  I do hop you play along.

Same basic sketch 2 different looks using a gingham stamp

I am up on the Unity Blog with some more of my favorites.... can you say gingham?  I'm a sucker for gingham, ledger, lines.... so some of these stamps I had when Unity had them in wooden backed ones.  I have since replaced them with rubber but still love them.

Today I am showcasing Gurnsey Gingham along with some other fun stamps.

First up, red gingham... well I had to use my You Bing Me Joy Stamp set - I love cherries so this stamp set was a must have.   I paper pieced them with some papers from the Bright Side collection by Fancy Pants.

I did some real and faux stitching with the Time to Be Happy Again stamp.

For my second card, I did a bit more layering and added the Vintage Ledger as a background. I wanted a different look so I stamped the Gurnsey Gingham in blue, which I thought would work well with lemons so I used the Live half FULL stamp set.  Again, adding Bright Side Papers and faux stitching from the Time to Be Happy Again stamp set.

Inspired By... Time to Garden

Happy Thursday.... another Inspired By challenge is up.  I had so many ideas for this one, but time wasn't on my side for crafting this week so I went with something pretty quick.

I used the Spring Market collection by Carta Bella once again - I just can't get enough of this collection.

I used the Garden Variety stamp set by PTI to stamp and then die cut the seed package.  It is mounted on foam squares for some dimension.   The flowers on the card have been fussy cut.  Finally, I cut out the mom with my Silhouette.  Now I'm all ready for Mother's Day.... well except for the gift!

What do you get your mom for Mother's Day... I always seem to get a flower of some sort or a garden ornament - I'm looking for some fresh ideas ;)

Mindful Monday - sound

What is Mindful Monday?  well... it is explained here, but in a nutshell, documenting simple things that just make us happy.  I think it is important to take the time to be mindful and just appreciate what we have, and the simple and amazing things that surround us in our daily lives.

This week's prompt is 'sound'

What sound makes your heart happy?  baby giggle, children's laughter, opening that fresh, murmur of a fan, hum of a lawn mower, purring of a cat.... I had a lot to choose from but I decided to settle on...

This is definitely one of my favorite sounds and it is so Port Alberni.  Nothing says summer in Port Alberni that the rumble of the Water bomber going through the sky.  Unfortunately it usually  means that there is a fire somewhere but...

It doesn't matter who you are, how old you are or how many times you have seen her.... everyone in Port Alberni stops what they are doing and watches her as she rumbles slowly by.  It is a unique sound and it is something I will always remember.

I stamped the background with a Unity stamp.  The tags and bits are from Elle's Studio.

I would love to hear what sound you love... be sure to link up below and share the badge in your post :)

Scrappy Sunday - summer

Guess what.... the sun is out!  Finally it looks like it will be a fine spring day.  I quickly played in my craft room this morning and am so happy to finally scrap this cute picture I got of my grand daughter a couple of years ago.... nothing says summer like a little nudie and a hose ;)

I used the Bloom collection by Crate Paper.  Lots of scraps so this layout was perfect for it.

The title was cut with my Silhouette and that butterfly was fussy cut.  All else, pretty easy peesy.

I am playing along with Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues.... be sure to head on over there to see how I was inspired :)

So berry sweet Sketchy Saturday with Echo Park Paper

Hi everyone... has spring started for you yet?!  Seriously... I'm still waiting for ours.  Oh well, I can dream about my strawberry patch ;)

It is time for another Sketch Saturday and today I have used some Echo Park Paper and paired it up with the Berry Sweet Stamp set and Confetti Cuts by Reverse Confetti.

Once again, trying to create a homespun feel... (love that gingham paper) so I used my chicken wire die.  I die cut and stitched the strawberries.  One of them is mounted on foam squares for some dimension.  The sweet die is from Echo Park as well.

Here is the sketch, I would love for you to play along>
When I saw this I knew immediately I wanted to use my Reverse Confetti Berry goodies!
