A few Home Decor projects.

I have finally finished some home decor projects for my bedroom.  I got the pots for next to nothing at the thrift store and I painted them this past March.  I picked up some silk flowers at a garage sale for 50 cents a bundle (big bundle in this photo and small one in next photo) and tonight I played around with some arranging.   I am NOT, repeat NOT a floral designer by any means, I really struggle with anything floral, but these are loosey goosey and they are basically white hydrangeas so I am happy with the results.

First up these pots:

were transformed into these.  I have one on each end of my dresser.

Now this pot...

turned into this and it sits beside my bed.  I am loving the look I am getting to my room.  I have a LONG way to go... but Rome wasn't built in a day ;)

Now while looking through my albums tonight I found this photo.  This is a mermaid I painted on the back of my kids bathroom door a few years ago.  Their bathroom was obviously an ocean theme, it has since been painted over now that they are older.  There were also fish painted around the bathroom.

and this was the towel holder that I designed and cut out myself.  I am by no means an artist when it comes to pencil and paper (the mermaid and fish were clip art that I projected onto the door and room) but I was happy with the results (now when I look at it I have to laugh... look at those goofy legs!).  The kids were little and I let them paint some of the fish as well.  Great fun.  It totally stressed hubby out though... he thought I was 'wrecking' the house.

Follow your heart

While I had the scraps and papers out from yesterday's card, I decided to whip up a quick card for today.  I have pleated the middle row of paper although it is hard to tell.  The birdcage is a Fancy Pants transparency that comes in the It's the Little Things kit.  I have added a row of gems and some twine from the Twinery.  The stickers are from SRM.

You Make Me Smile

What a great week it is over at the Scrap-Mart blog!  We have teamed up with Want2Scrap for a week long celebration of using the Nestablings.  Want2Scrap generously supplied the Scrap-Mart DT with some of the Nestablings to use on our projects and they are so much fun to use!  I have used some Fancy Pants - It's the Little Things papers for my card today, for more information on the other products used, please see the Scrap-Mart blog.  This is also for the Shopping our Stash challenge as it is made using only scraps of Pattern Paper and some ribbon which I have a ton of but never use! Finally for the Kraft Journal challenge - Old and New (new papers and old ribbon)

If you haven't been to the Scrap-Mart blog yet, you may just want to hop on over there and start on Sunday's post, there is so much fabulous inspiration you won't want to miss it!

Seeing the end...

I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and can get back to 'normal' soon.  I have barely scrapped in a week, no pinning, hardly any blogging or facebooking... geesh.  Our company has left, we had a fabulous visit with them.  We have different company for dinner tonight (Jaimee's birthday), tomorrow after work is our staff party, then my last day of work on the 30th.  what will I be doing on Canada day??? hopefully nothing!

Congrats

Time for another Ribbon Carousel Challenge and this week it is Happy Birthday America.  Of course living in Canada we don't celebrate July 4th, but I was inspired by the colors to make a Congrats card (I'm anticipating hubby getting a promotion, fingers crossed)

I used this sketch from Lily Pad Cards:
The inspiration from Cupcake Inspiration Challenges:

I also took in the Gallery Idol challenge of a Congrats card.  The little stars and elements are from Elle's Studio digital USA Journaling Cards, available at Jessica Sprague.  The stickers are from SRM Stickers.  The twine is the Air Mail Divine Twine available at Ribbon Carousel.  This is also for the Pals Paper Arts challenge - stars and the Catch the Bug challenge.

Believe

I played along with the Scrapbooker's Paradise challenge:

One of the boxes of goodies I got from a CARDs publication was a bunch of Doodlebug Christmas paper so I decided to put it to work and this is what I came up with.  The tag is from Pretty Little Studio, the twine is from The Twinery and the rest is Doodlebug.

Thinking of You

Welcome to another Pretty Palette Challenge from My Time Made Easy.

I used this sketch from Techno Stamper:

I used the Spot of Tea stamp set along with this yummy Crate Paper, Emma's Shoppe.  I have also used some Ivory Vintage Seam Binding available at The Ribbon Carousel.  This is also for the CCEE challenge - to include pink and the Sketches in Thyme Open Challenge and the Kraft Journal challenge.

Simply Fabulous

I decided to play along in a couple PTI challenges.  The first one is the PTI Posse challenge - use something trendy - I see a lot of burlap around lately so I used it as the basis for my card and flower.  The other challenge is from the Papertrey Dolls challenge - use a background stamp.  I used a Cosmo Cricket gluber to make the flower.

A little Sparse

We have some company arriving here from out of town for a few days so my blogging will be a little sparse.  I have a couple of posts scheduled but if I don't visit, you will know why.

Key to My Heart

Friends with Flair time again at the Unity blog.  I have used my Unity stamps along with some Graphic 45 paper and some Maya Road chipboard that I got in my DT package from Your Scrapbook Stash.  Just a FYI, I use Glue Dots on every project to hold ribbon, twine, buttons and parts of my papers before sewing, here they are holding up this heavy key, gotta love that!

The City Crafter Challenge is to include the #1 on a project:

I dug out some Girl's Paperie Papers and some Co-Brand Jillibean Soup Unity stamps.  Of course this is also for the Gallery Idol Congrats challenge.

And finally after playing with a map for this card, I got an idea for a graduation card.  I used some Studio Calico paper, some Unity stamps a card from Shabby Chic Crafts, some Jillibean letters, tape and twine.  The Globe is cut with my Cricut.

To the Moon and Back

The sketch challenge at The Sweet Stop:

I decided to play along with the Squigglefly challenge which is choosing your favorite Squigglefly image.  I chose to use this rocket and an old map to make a fun card.  This is also for the Tuesday Throwdown challenge - masculine.

Life Right Now

I played along with the Once Upon a Sketch challenge tonight (should actually be doing DT work, but I just had no mojo for cards so I tried a layout instead)

I was also inspired by the colors in this weeks Tuesday Trigger:

I used the yummy Sunshine Broadcast papers and elements from Sassafras Lass.  I have also used a Maya Road envelope, some May Arts twine, an Elle's Studio journalling card and a One Word Flashcard from Pretty Little Studio.  I have also used some Unity stamps and SRM Stickers.  This went together so quickly and easily... much easier than the card I was trying.

I took these photos with my iPhone while waiting for Jaimee to come out from her shift at work.  I seem to spend a lot of time in my car lately and I wanted to document that.

Mr. & Mrs.

I decided to play along in a couple of Wedding Themed challenges.  The Crazy Challenge and the Etsy Inspired challenge.  I used my Crate Paper Portrait papers and chipboard along with a PTI stamp.

A Teacher Holds the Key

I needed one last teacher card so I decided to play along in the Karber Challenge - Anything Goes.  The papers and stickers are Echo Park (For the Record).  I typed the sentiment on the computer and the twine is from The Twinery.  I used the Lovely Teacher image, paper pieced and colored her.  This is also for The Paper Variety challenge - Mixed Alphas.

Odds & Ends

I am so in love with the Cosmo Cricket Odds & Ends papers that I received in my kit from Your Scrapbook Stash.  I used them on a Christmas layout here, and today I am using them in a totally different way.  I may have to order some more!

I used this sketch from Stuck Sketches:

I take no credit for this photo, I found it in my daughters's Facebook photos, one of her friends took it and altered it.  Isn't it fantastic!

I love all the bits of wisdom and sentiments on one of the pattern papers in the kit so I cut some out and used them as my journaling on this page.  I have also used a journaling card from Pretty Little Studio and some Vintage Seam Binding, available at The Ribbon Carousel.  The leaves are cut with my Foliage Spellbinders die, I punched the edge of the pattern paper with a Martha Stewart edge punch, and I have snuck in a Maya Road envelope and SRM Sticker.

Next up is the Cupcake Inspirations challenge for this week:  LOVE this inspiration!

I used the Sweet Sunday sketch:

It is also my week for the Card Challenge at Scrap Shotz and my challenge is to create a card with some Gardening theme to it - this could be anything related to gardening.  For my card I used my new PTI stamp set and dies.  Once again some of the Seam Binding and some May Arts Twine.

Mr. & Mrs.

The next color challenge is up at My Time Made Easy.

For my card I used the cake from the On Display digi set.
