The My Mind's Eye Design Team have teamed up with Tombow for a fabulous blog hop this weekend.  For my project I used the Cut & Paste Adorbs collection to scrap these fun photos of me that my daughter took when we were in London last week.  She told me she was taking selfies (and I believed her because she is a 16 year old girl who is forever taking selfies!)  Must say I was a little surprised to see these pictures!  However, they do sum up the fun we were having that afternoon in Hyde Park.

I used this Xtreme adhesive by Tombow and boy does it stick!

I have also tucked in a few tags from Elle's Studio here and there.

Favorite Thing

I couldn't wait to use my Chickaniddy Crafts Date Night collection and thought it worked well with this paper clip I picked up while shopping in London.  I also used my Silhouette to cut out the sentiment scribble.

Just Because card from my desk to yours

I feel quite rusty in my craft room.  It has been awhile since I have been in there.  I decided to play along with a couple of challenges to get the mojo going.

I used the From Me to You Collection by Pebbles along with a Silhouette cut and some Divine Twine to create this fun just because card.

I am playing along with the Color Q challenge:

As well as the JUGS challenge.

Travel Themed Home Decor using Xyron

The Xyron Design Team have been inspired by Pinterest this week.  We have taken inspiration from some projects we have seen on Pinterest that were not made with Xyron and then created some similar projects that do use Xyron.

I was inspired by some decorative clothes pins, which I love.  I decided to create a travel themed home decor collection.  I used some Studio Calico papers along with some Flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons and some Unity Stamps(Je t'aime, SMAK kits and Carte Postale).  The Xyron Create-a-Sticker and Creative Stations make altering items so easy.

For this project, I upcycled a little canvas.  I layered and stitched my papers and stamped images before running them through my Creative Station then I just adhered to the canvas.  I then used some of the new 3/8" Dots to adhere the Flair buttons and the clothes pin.  I will be clipping some of the photos from my recent trip to Europe (France) in the clip and use this as a home decor piece.

For this little project I altered a large wooden clothes pin with paper, stamps and badges.  Once again, I ran my background paper through my Create-a-Sticker then just adhered it to the spray painted clothes pin,  The paper bits were adhered with a Mega Runner and finally the 3/8" Dots were used to adhere the buttons.  I will clip a couple of our London photos in this decor item.

Here is my inspiration piece:

Using Pocket Page cards to create cards.

I was up on the My Mind's Eye blog last week with some card that I created using the Record It Journaling cards.  The Pretty Things collection is so gorgeous I love working with it!

On this card I used one as the main image on the card, backed by a doily from SRM Stickers.

On this next card I layed a couple of the cards at the top at a slight angle for some interest.  I then added a SRM Sticker and a fussy cut cluster of roses.

Finally I used one of the 4 X 6 cards to create a card.  At the top I cut a 3 X 4 card into 2 pieces, adhered and added a doily and sticker from SRM Stickers.  Having just gotten back from Europe, I really love this card, I saw a lot of bikes just like this scattered here and there throughout France.

Believe in Yourself

I am up on the SRM Stickers Blog today with this layout.  I love how this one turned out.  I used the gorgeous Flea Market collection by Crate Paper along with my Silhouette and some SRM Stickers and other goodies.

I thought the muslin bag was a perfect way to hide the personal journaling.  I also layered some of the doilies as they are a perfect accent for this paper collection.  I also love layering the clear stickers over my photos.  The natural solid twine was a perfect touch to the tag that I cut from some of the pattern paper.

I added some of the Sticker Stitches for some accents.

For a complete list of stickers and supplies please see the SRM Stickers Blog.

Be Your Own Beautiful

This will be my last live post for awhile.  I leave very early (3:30 am Friday) for Europe with my daughter!  We will be back on the 25th.  It should be a lot of fun!

I just got a goodie box full of Echo Park and Carta Bella goodies from some Craft Junction credit and I couldn't wait to use the Sew Lovely from Carta Bella, it is just so pretty!  I have used my Cricut (Nifty Fifties to cut out the dress form and Art Philosophy to cut out the roses) along with a doily from SRM Stickers, a couple of Unity Stamps (Be Your Own Beautiful, Classified Newsprint) and some Divine Twine.  I don't know where I got the little wooden spool from but I have had it for awhile.

Do What You Love

I dug out some of my The Good Life by Fancy Pants and played along with this week's sketch by Studio Calico.  I also used my Silhouette to cut out the circle panel and the 'be' sentiment.  The twine is from Divine Twine.

Here is the sketch:

Teen themed birthday cards

I am up today on the Jillibean Soup Blog with a couple of simple but fun birthday cards using the Birthday Bisque collection.

This first card uses some of the die cuts from the Pea Pod Parts along with a hashtag from Creative Embellishments.  the dies are mounted on foam tape.

For this second card I fussy cut the pop and speech bubbles from some of the pattern paper and mounted them with foam squares.

Be sure to stop by the Jillibean Soup Blog to see what the other designers have created.

Just a little note about this fun collection.  My teenage daughter really likes all of the cards that I have made with it.  She really likes the pop bottles.  So for those of you with teens, this collection is perfecct for them!

Paper Piecing Tutorial - easy fussy cutting

I am happy to have my first tutorial for Xyron for you today.  I absolutely love to paper piece (probably because I can't color, hehehe) and I am sure I love it so much because of Xyron.  The little 150 Create-a-Sticker makes paper piecing so easy and with no mess.  Thus I thought a paper piecing tutorial would be a perfect start!  Also since I am leaving for Europe in a few days, I thought paper piecing the Bianca Fashionista by Unity would be the perfect image.

First off, I stamp all of my pieces on the desired paper with the main image on cream paper (makes for easier coloring of her skin... like I said, I am not a colorer)

After coloring what needs to be colored, I cut out the pieces, thinking about how they will be layered for easiest cutting and assembling.  The micro tip scissors from CTMH are a must have for me, I have a few pair (mostly because they are always getting lost in the mess on my desk!) - they make fussy cutting so easy.  I run all of my pieces through the 150 Create-a-Sticker.

Then I just assemble.

I cut out all around the image and then I am left with this inside which I don't like.

Sorry for the blurry photo, but for easiest removal of the inside pieces I look at where I can cut through my image for least amount of damage.  In this case, I cut the legs from the suitcase, then just trimmed out the inside piece.  I also cut through one knee and one of the arms, to get those little pieces out.  No worries, these cuts won't be seen once the project is finished.  Another little tip, is to run a marker (similiar to the stamp ink) around the edge of the cut paper just to blend it in.

Once my card front is created, I use my Xyron Mega Runner to apply strips of adhesive around the edges of a card base and then adhere the card front.

Voila, the finished piece.  I used the Travel Ledge collection by Teresa Collins, the Alpha Beans are from Jillibean Soup, the twine is Divine twine and I have used a few Unity stamps (Bianca FashionistaJe t'aimeVintage Handwritten, and the Going Places SMAK kit).  Oh and yes, I do have a pink suitcase.  My hubby made fun of it when I first got it, but guess who's luggage is the easiest to spot coming down the baggage claim, hehehe
