New Beginnings

You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow. You can view all of the challenges on my blog by clicking here or check our our new Inspiration Elevator Blog, here.

This month, our challenge comes from the talented Laura Whitaker. Laura's challenge, in her own words, is as follows:

"As we welcome spring, scrap something to do with a new beginning, it could be an opportunity, a relationship, or even the world's reawakening after it's long winter's nap. Don't forget to
journal and describe why you have chosen your topic."

We would also like to welcome our May Guest Designer, Denise Morrison. Her arsty, eclectic style inspires her followers to see how "Life is Yummy" at her blog!

For my layout I used my Teresa Collins Stationary Noted collection.  I used my Cricut Mini Book cartridge to cut out the pockets (4") and then just played with layering bits and pieces.  The stickers are from SRM Stickers, a few of the tags are from Elle's Studio and the wooden hearts are from Freckled Fawn.  Behind the photo I have a tag inside the pocket onn which I journaled about my husband and my 'new beginnings'.  Thus this fits the Elle's Studio Challenge, using pockets.  Our kids are older  (one graduating and the other in grade 9) and this means that we are easily able to get away together once in awhile.  As we are nearing the next phase of our life, I do look forward to the new beginnings but I would take back having my little girls in a minute!

I hope you will stop by and see what our designers on this adventure have created:

Wonderful layout, Laurel. I really admire your ability to add all kinds of goodies to your layouts and have them look awesome. That picture is terrific of the two of you. Ready for the next grand adventure!

Great layout, love the colours and fussy cut flowers. I also love your subject, and look forward to having that myself one day. My new beginning has postponed this for us, but i am not complaining as i am grateful for my little man.

Wow, this is gorgeous, Laurel! I LOVE this collection, and you have done wonders with it. Loving the little banner flags and the scalloped number strips, and those fussy cut flowers are absolutely stunning!

Once again your layering has me awestruck, Laurel. I love how you piled up those cards and tags. I'm sure you were deliberate and yet they look casual. Your photo of you and your husband is lovely, too and tells your story.
